Cow-a-licious

Cen here. For the last four days we’ve been at a farm stay on the Great Ocean Road, and it’s been the best four days of my life so far.

Why? Because there are …

Cows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s awesome because we’ve seen piglets being born (we got to hold them!) and we just missed seeing a cow give birth to a calf.

They also have lambs, chickens, ducks, alpaca, two dogs and cats.

And COWS!! Did I mention the cows? I love cows.

What makes this the best four days of my life is getting the chance to milk the cows by hand and with a machine every day. The milk is delicious!

Oh and there is also a rope swing that Meskie and I play on all the time. I wish we could stay here for a year!

Gloria here now. Before we came to Macka’s farm I wondered if Cen’s enduring love of cows would be tested by the realities of a working dairy farm (the smells, the noise, the “dirt”). But as you can tell by his post above, he’s had the time of his life. I tell you, this boy was meant to be a farm hand. He’s now requesting a pet cow! Alas, that’s not in the cards, but his dream of being a vet lives on.

A huge thank you to Trudi and Macka, our gracious hosts at Macka’s Farm. Not only did our spacious cabin come complete with a wood burning fireplace (much needed) and a full kitchen (yay!), it overlooked the beautiful rolling hills of the Victoria countryside and the wild ocean beyond. (Note: the pic immediately below doesn’t show the “shipwreck coast” but it was there… keep scrolling.)

It was the perfect base to explore the many wind-swept sights along the Great Ocean Road (and wind swept it was! Where are you Spring? Your nemesis Winter is kicking your butt here in southern Aussie!)

I will let Karl do his usual magic with the pics…

Next up: our Koala-Palooza post. Then we’re off to South Africa!

  1. Thank you so much for sharing your incredible adventures! Your choices of destinations are brilliant and so wonderfully varied. I love seeing the kids –they have all grown! Once again, I’m filled with awe –and no small measure of envy– for your wonderful family, building strength, growth and memories. –Terry

  2. Angela K.

Stunning photography on the ocean. I predict some framing.

  3. I just couldn’t go away your web site before suggesting that I really enjoyed the standard info a person supply for your visitors? Is going to be back regularly to check up on new posts
